My son loves watching all the penguin videos so we are glad to add these to our collection. Just like the Veggie Tales series, these movies are God's lessons on a child's platform. Even if you aren't religious, they teach pure moral values and aren't preachy at all. The animation and humor is that so that even I don't mind watching them over, and over, and over again like he does. Moon menace is a great tool for teaching about not lying, and how great you feel when the truth is told. The doom funnel rescue features helping others, and the featurette "music video" follows the same lesson and is hilarious to boot! These both are a must buy!!" We all like Kevin, especially when he says his name in the beginning of each video - we just laugh our heads off as do most other folks we know! Planet Tell-A-Lie is very instructive on the importance of not lying. Scripture is tossed in here and there, usually by Grandmum (who has a neat English accent), that highlights the errors of lying.
The Doom Funnel Rescue is a little more simplistic. It could have been longer and I almost think that the music video that follows it was better than the actual story. I was a little disappointed in that one - the story definitely needed some more depth and could have been taken a little deeper. It seems like the story just barely starts and then it's over. It's funny though - Kevin has a larger role in this video so if he's your favorite, then by all means grab this one. Highly recommend these DVDs - you'll love laughing too!" |
