Movie Reviews

Solid but not exceptional

(3 out of 5 stars)

"Blackalicious is an unbelievable hip-hop outfit consisting of the ever amazing Gift of Gab and the highly underated Cheif Excel. Everything they do together is a masterpiece in its own right and on this DVD it shows pretty accurately what you would get if you saw them play live. Its a very well filmed show as opposed to the flashy quick editing of most live recordings.

There were some dissapointing aspects about the DVD however. The tracklisting they chose did have some glaring absences like 'Make you feel that way' and 'Your move' (considering Lifesavas were there). Also the fact that besides the show there isn't really mush else on the DVD. Its running time is only 59mins. Why didn't the put their music videos on there aswell or more backstage footage?

All in all though it's a good DVD, but it makes you want more cause it is Blackalicious. If you're thinking of buying this and are a fan of K-OS and dont own his DVD, I recommend that instead.
