45th ANNIVERSARY TRIBUTE to THE KINGSTON TRIO a fantastic tr
forrie lowell | 10/06/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This 2002 tribute is with the then Kingston Trio Bob Shane (co-founder of the 1957 original Trio), George Grove (member since 1976) and Bob Haworth.

NOTE: Bob Shane is the last surviving founding member of "THE KINGSTON TRIO" (Dave Guard (co-founder passed in 1991, John Stewart Jan 2008 and Nick Reynolds co-founder Oct 2008). The original Trio Dave, Bob and Nick performed from 1957 -1961 and then Dave left and John Stewart joined and stayed until the Trio disbanded in 1967. Shortly after that Bob formed "THE NEW KINGSTON TRIO in 1968 and continued their legacy which is still performing today. (Bob retired from the Trio in 2004).

This DVD has an 88 min Tribute Concert with "24" Fabulous Folk Songs provided by the Trio, The Limeliters, The Brothers Four and The Shaw Brothers. A great blend of folk musical nostalgia performed by the original artists. There is 29 mins of informative Interviews from the Groups and their fans.

If your a fan of the folk era and the music this "KINGSTON TRIO TRIBUTE" is a must have for your DVD musical library. Encores will be many. Enjoy."

"I am a big folk fan and really enjoy the Kingston Trio but this is not one of their best, if you are a die hard fan and just want to fill out a collection than give it a try."
