Movie Reviews

Celine Shines!
08/04/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I was kind of scared to watch this DVD after reading the comments posted here, but I watched it and I fell in love with Celine even more, if possible.Personally, I didn't see anything wrong with the camera angles and quality and stuff. It seemed just fine to me!As for the lip-syncing...I guess we can never be sure if she did or not, but I know she wouldn't unless it was absolutely necessary. And give her a break, people; she had just had her big English break, and of course they wanted the DVD to be perfect. Celine tries out all different styles of performing and music here; it was even nice to see her perform with dancers (I've never seen her do this before!).There are five things that I must comment. One, "Refuse to Dance." It's a very odd song, but she just performs is so well...I know it's choreographed and such, but her expressions and stuff are awesome, especially at the very begining of the song. With that dress...it's just a very awe-inspiring moment. Two, "Ce N'etait Qu'un Reve." It's the first song that she ever recorded, and her mother wrote it, and her parents are there. It's so neat to watch her perform it, clearly is really enjoying herself (as she is throughout the whole DVD), and it's fun to compare it to how she sang it when she was 12. Three, I just had to add that the duets are supurb and I think Clive Griffin is very hansome and both of the men are great singers. Four, the end of "The Colour of My Love" (song) is very touching; I'll let you see why. And five, "I Can't Help Falling in Love With You." Amazing. Wow, is just left me and everyone else who watched it breathless. I've never heard a voice like Celine's in the first place, but after that song...wow.This DVD just proves that Celine is the best, and probably most versitale, performer out there. With her belting ballads she outdoes every other diva; she easily outdances Britney Spears and all those others; she's the best in whatever she does, and she does everything 'all the way' and with as much class as possible!"
One of the best concerts

"Celine Dion has an incredible voice and apartently a good chorographer. The problem wth this DVD is that the person operating the camera needed to quit looking at everything else and focus on Celine! She delivers a wonderful performance just to have it degraded by the people behind the post production.
One last thing, I Cant Help Falling In Love Has LIVE after it because it's different than any album version. Also it's very evident that she does sing."
Not a real concert!

"If you are a fan of Celine Dion, you will easily realize most songs she sang here are exactly the same as original CD version. Disappointedly, that means they were lipsynced or dubbed. Moreover, this shows some edited scenes regardless of music. So seeing this video like a can is not very exiting. And I don't like the third-rate dancers."
Céline, not just a Magnificent Voice

"I just watched this video and rewound it so I can go back and watch it again right after I write this review.Okay, so I'm a Céline fan. A big one. Not just the ordinary Céline fan- but the one that has loved Céline's music all my life, one that has every English CD ever made of Céline's plus all of her French CDs plus some more, the one that has seen hundreds of and has a large collection of "simply 'Céline' stuff." So trust me on this review, okay?Let me get a few things straight. Many people have said that Céline lip-synchs on this video. Okay, she did. But only on two of the songs as far as I can see, and for sure not all of them! And, she practically had to lip synch because of the complicated dances she did along with the song. Her dance moves and great stage presence make up for the synching. As for the rest, Céline put her heart and soul into singing these songs; she always has and always will. This concert was recorded at a time where Céline's talent was fresh to everyone and her dream of international stardom was just becoming reality. When she sings, she enjoys herself. It's easy to tell. Her eyes light up and she puts every ounce of her body and soul into each note. Her love for music, sweet personality and passion for performance makes this concert all the better. It's incredible. You'll want to watch it over and over again. This one can't be missed. But don't take my word for it... see for yourself."
