Other VHS tapes and DVDs disappointed -- was I getting old and jaded? had the film lost its charm! The Criterion Collection restores what was cut over years to squeeze in commercials on late night TV. The Criterion Collection edition restores elegance, and at long last the story moves to an entrancing internal rhythm all its own. The plot is unpredictable and will take you on a wild ride.
It is not so much a "Who-dunnit" as a "Who's-the-bad-guy?" With plenty of plot and character twists you'll find yourself going, "Well is he a good guy or a bad guy?" Great show that illustrates in a fun way that people are not always what they appear to be. Another plus for this movie is its star studded cast. Even if you aren't big on classic films, these actors are hard not to love. I especially like Audrey Hepburn's performance as a widow on the edge of a nervous breakdown while simultaniously falling for the very guy who MIGHT have murdered her husband. The film is a comedy, but not so much that will make the tension seem ludicrous. It is well worth watching. Movie ReviewsCharade - Blu-Ray review A.
