The Dark Horse script has large enough holes in it that the horse could jump through! But I still loved it! That being said I must confess the movie is not on a par with The Black Stallion (Walter Farley) or anywhere comparable with such classics as My Friend Flicka or Thunderhead (Mary O’Hara) yet it has lots of visual appeal because of the horse! A story of family and redemption, The Dark Horse is well worth watching for footage of the absolutely gorgeous horse (a Friesian stallion). If you know anything at all about the sport of Dressage you realize no one can be trained in a few weeks to become of championship status. Yet this film gets to the…. well…. the heart! Horse lovers and those who appreciate a challenge will love this film!
