Movie Reviews

The sequel to "The Deserters" (C.K. Dezerterzy)
Richard J. Brzostek | New England, USA | 07/09/2005
(4 out of 5 stars)

""Deserter's Gold" (Zloto Dezerterow), the sequel to the very popular "The Deserters" (C.K. Dezerterzy), is a rich war comedy, skipping humorously around the more serious dangers of a war. Deserters Gold takes place during World War II, while the first film happened during WWI. The heroes' mission is to rob a Nazi-run bank in Poland for gold that will buy military supplies for the Polish Underground.

Overall, "Deserter's Gold" is a comedy, carefully balancing it's humor with the more serious moments. Such was everyone's life in Poland during both World Wars fought in Poland in the 20th Century. There are many funny scenes, but as the times and setting are also quite serious, there are also dramatic and tragic action in the movie.

What distinguishes this film is the collection of great Polish actors, their acting talent and the wonderful musical score by Michal Lorenc. "Deserter's Gold" is loaded with humor and exciting escape action scenes, and overall, the film provides lighthearted, great entertainment.
