Movie Reviews

Welcome to Di Gi Charat!

"When I went to Broccoli's panel at the Fanime convention, I was waiting to hear news of this. The Di Gi Charat original series finally released domestically - and in such a killer box set! Here's what you'll be getting:

-The DVD with all 16 episodes
-A "Party Night" CD single
-Jewelry box
-Figures of Dejiko, Puchiko, and Usada
-A voucher for a t-shirt that resembles the one Takeshi wears, with the stretched-out Dejiko face (the Broccoli rep explained they included a voucher so you could select what size shirt you want)
-A DGC manga
-Booklet with translation notes and other informations

This is the essential Di Gi Charat release that many American fans have been looking forward to. I'm so glad Broccoli finally was able to release the series here. If you enjoy off-the-wall, cute, and funny anime, Di Gi Charat will be great for you nyo!"
Do You Like Di Gi Charat?

"I personally love Di Gi Charat, because it really doesn't have some all enclosing underlining plot, and because it's really cute and... well... Di Gi Charat-like ^_^

The box set I'd recommend to anyone who really has a liking for Di Gi Charat, because it's got all sorts of neato stuff. It's definately worth the money.

This Di Gi Charat series really isn't about much, besides Dejiko wanting to be an idol and failing all the way through. It's got really cute humor, and a bit of gassy humor. Some episodes, like the one titled "Warm, Fluffy, Rice (nyo)" aren't really about anything whatsoever, and there's not that much humor. I still liked those episodes though.
I like this kind of stuff, and that's much of what Di Gi Charat stands on. A bunch of stuff that doesn't make sense gathered up into "Mini-Episodes".
-If you don't like nonsense, fluffy, shoujo animes, I wouldn't recommend Di Gi Charat.
-If you dislike seeing the opening theme every 4 minutes or so, buy a good DVD remote so you can skip it. (Personally, I love the opening theme. o_o)
Di Gi Charat is a really cute anime that has you wanting to go buy a Puchiko hat from Anime Gamers (They actually do sell them. ...I got one.) and wear it around saying nyu. It's that cute. There is a reason why Di Gi Charat is so darned popular, so go find out what it's all about already!

Pros: Cute, funny, shoujo, fluffy, and if you get the box set, lots of fun extra stuff!
Cons: If you dislike the opening theme, you'll be skipping it a lot, since they play it at the beginning of every "MINI-episode". Not every set of episodes. Every "mini-episode". Di Gi Charat may prove a little too nonsensical for some people.

More pros than cons. Go buy it!"

"It was pretty much along the lines of what I expected. The limited edition version is nice, although expensive. I would recommend seeking out a sample of the series before deciding to get the limited edition. One bad thing about the dub, is that you might get worried about getting used to it. In the case of Di Gi Charat, several different series exist, all of which are licensed by different American companies. ADV's voice cast is different than the ones on this DVD, and judging by the Bandai trailer for Di Gi Charat Nyo on this DVD, they'll have a different cast too."
