Movie Reviews

Nothing Special
John A Lee III | San Antonio, TX | 04/10/2006
(3 out of 5 stars)

"The subject of this show is the last week of the life of Jesus of Nazareth from the triumphal entry to Jerusalem to the resurrection after the crucifixion. A brief bit of time is devoted to the immediate aftermath of the resurrection as well.

Most of the show is fairly well done but was done from the perspective of "The Jesus Seminar" types. These scholars make an effort to look for the "historical Jesus" and have very little patience for the Christian religion except as subject matter for scholarly debate.

There is nothing particularly wrong with this show but neither is there anything particularly right either. It does provide a nice visual environment but it is not very meaty from either a religious, historical or cultural standpoint.

Jesus's Execution
Robert M. Petrolito | 04/25/2008
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Of the documentaries I've seen over the years on how Jesus was executed and just what path he actually walked, this one does a good job of trying to clear things up. Take it with a grain of salt since all we have to go on is written, verbal and scientific findings. All in all I enjoyed it and had the same feeling at the end:Sadness and Joy. He died for us and the manner in which he was brutally beaten and then nailed to the cross is very heart wrenching. But it and enjoy it."
