Kevin Kline plays Henry, an eccentric, penniless landlord who rents out his bedroom to Paul Dano, who plays Louis. Louis has moved to NY to become writer but quickly learns the ways of an "extra man" from Henry.

Very well written and acted by all in this movie. It has charm as Henry teaches Louis to dance and court older women. It's funny as Henry manages to get into the opera for free. It's quirky as Louis explores his sexuality. All in all, it's good entertainment.
