THE ORIGINAL BOOGIE BAND!!!
Robin L. Wever | sweetwater, tennessee United States | 05/26/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"No its not Savoy Brown-its Foghat! The great band that evolved from Savoy Brown. This DVD shows the band at an outdoor venue not that many years ago.The band itself was in the 50-somethings age bracket and STILL rocking.A plus is this is the original lineup of Dave,Rod,Tony and Roger.Anyone who enjoyed their music will be very impressed of the memories that it will bring(as well as a dynamite show).I was never fortunate enough to see them in person as the headline act but wittnessed several of the early shows. This was the time they were tabbed the "warm-up"band.All I know is I do not remember any of the headliners when Foghat played. But I remember Foghat very well. They were in the same category Montrose was in during the early seventies-they knew how to rock-and did.Foghat was the type of group that served notice to everyone else playing on the same bill(you better bring your A game tonight or you'll be blown off the srage). The DVD is relatively short but as the saying goes"you can choose quantity or quality".When you see the band on the DVD don't let father times aging of the guys fool you. They got it and they know it.Sad to say this was one of Lonesome Dave Peveretts last shows as he eventually lost his battle with cancer.Unfortunately,us forty-somethings are losing some of our favorites in the rock world but DVDs like this allows us to hang on to a part of them.So bittersweet in that I highly recomend this to any rock and all Foghat fans."
Great show at a great price

"This 10 song concert was recorded in Dayton Ohio in 1997 with all original members is outstanding, It has 2 more bonus songs one "angel of mercy" is a tribute to the late Lonesome Dave, the other is an acoustic song "leavin' again" which is played over the closing credits, It also has a band biography and a band photo gallery, this DVD like the cd version "Extended Versions" is outstanding and well worth the low price.....Rich Dunn"
When Foghat Was Real
M. Alley | Dutch Flat, California United States | 05/31/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"When I was Stone Blue, rock and roll sure helped me through.Boys and Girls, here is the Real Deal. The original members of Foghat playing their hearts out for one and all. From the opening of Louisiana Blues (from their studio album Return of the Boogie Men, 1994), you can clearly see that Foghat laid bare their souls for this concert and, unfortunately, were not responded in kind by the audience. Except for a few keen fans in front, I was disappointed by the general reaction of this venue. The performance clearly exceeded the capabilities of the audience. No one in the team of Foghat disappointed. I read a prior review which indicated someone was dissatisfied with the length of the DVD. Well guess what. It was just right. Except for a select few video mobile unit goofs, this was a wonderful concert captured live, with a wonderful display of the true talents of Foghat. Lonesome Dave never sounded better, Rod never ran his slide better, Tony drove the beat and Roger provided the necessary backbone. Foghat was up to the venue. Only the audience disappointed. In their 50s, Foghat gave their all for the crowd. My hat is off to Lonesome Dave Peverett, Rod Price, Tony Stevens and Roger Earl for their fabulous performance. The sound, when cranked up on my own home system, was spectacular.I've gotten wider and older and more cirsumspect. Foghat has, somehow, remained the same. Their sound was, during this concert, as it was then. If you want to remember this group, remember it via this DVD. I absolutely must provide it with 5 stars. They simply played their hearts out for me."
GREAT BAND- GREAT DVD- GREAT PRICE!!!
John D. Seneca | PLAQUEMINE, LOUISIANA | 10/26/2003

"THIS WAS ONE OF FOGHAT'S LAST PERFORMANCES AND I MUST LET YOU KNOW THAT THE BAND WAS ROCKIN' OUT LIKE THEY HAD BEEN FOR MANY YEARS.
THIS DVD IS A TRIBUTE TO LONESOME DAVE, THE BAND'S LEAD GUITARIST AND VOCALIST.
THIS DVD HELPS US TO BETTER APPRECIATE THE MAN AND THE BAND THAT TOOK US ALL ON A "SLOW RIDE."
THE CLOSING SEQUENCE FEATURES THE SONG ANGEL OF MERCY, ONE OF THE GREATEST SONGS EVER WRITTEN.
THE DVD HAS GREAT SOUND QUALITY AND MOST FANS OF THE GROUP SHOULD ENJOY THIS DVD!!"
