Movie Reviews

Cusack at his best
10/15/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Both "Grosse Pointe Blank" and "High Fidelity" are great pieces of work. They use wonderfully entertaining dialogue with Cusack performing seamlessly with the rest of the cast. The dark comedy in "Blank" will bounce off the painstaking soul searching in "Fidelity." See them now if you never have, and enjoy two intelligent films."
Cusack is priceless

"You cannot go wrong with John Cusack....

These are two of my favorite movies of the last ten years...

It isn't the writing which was excellent in both cases, but the casting. You cannot go wrong with John Cusack. The rest of the cast in both movies are just sublime. Jerry Piven and Joan Cusack are wonderful, Jack Black blew up in his role in "High Fidelity". However, the cream of the crop has got to be Dan Ackroyd. I think his role in "Grosse Pointe Blank may have been the highlight of an excellent career.
