This DVD is packaged in a slim style DVD case.....

During the year 1939, the animated motion picture reached its zenith, quickly declined and after World War Two, never again reached the heights achieved in that halcyon year, which had been declared the best in history for all Hollywood productions. Here's a perfect example: The month of December alone saw the release of both Walt Disney's Pinocchio and the Fleischer Brothers' Paramount Production, Gulliver's Travels.

Undoubtedly the finest animated feature ever released by a major studio other than Disney, Gulliver followed the same format devised by Walt's "nine old men" in 1937: Take a classic fairy tale, jazz it up just a bit, and fill it with memorable and dancable tunes which would (hopefully) be destined for the Hit Parade.

In the first feature film from the studio that brought Superman and Popeye to life, Gulliver washes ashore in Lilliput, befriends the miniature natives, and teaches the warring factions how to make peace. A pioneering animated classic, Gulliver's Travels was the second animated feature ever made in the United States.

Oscar Nominations: Best Song "Faithful Forever" and Best Original Score.
