Movie Reviews

An Interesting Perspective
Bart | Montpellier, France | 07/20/2006

"It never occured to me that there was once a time when there were not enough houses for all the people who could afford them. That's what happened however after world war II when the soldiers came home to restart their lives. These clips offer a nice overview of how hard it was to find a home and what the governement did to help people out. You get great well rounded explations of both the problme and the solution. It's a neat perspective on recent ameican history."
The Aftermath of The War

"I buy a fair amount of these WW2 DVDs because they make my grandparent's happy and it's something we can watch and enjoy together. This one was more interesting to me than most, because I'm less interested in the war itself than I am in the consequences of war, if you get the difference. In this case we learn that because most guys had been away from America for years, when they came home there were not enough houses for them to live in - because no guys had been around to build them. We then get to see the massive effort than went into building homes for the returning soldiers - which eventually caused suburbia to be created. It's fascinating, but no war stuff, really."
