Great movie. Tarantino's subversive twist on the WWII men-on-a-mission actionier goes against Hollywood conventions by depicting characters on both sides just as morally murky as those of his gangster movies, dispelling the notion of good guys and bad guys. The film is also concerned with the relationship between brutality and violence, and propaganda, language, and film, culminating in a finale where cinema is literally used as a weapon. Christoph Waltz got a much-deserved Oscar for his turn as Col. Hans Landa, a loquacious and multilingual Nazi Henry Higgins.
