Wow... A Wonderful Cross-over Concert
Young Seok Park | Seoul, Korea | 11/23/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Each member of the trio led by Jacques Loussier is so talented and did a great concert with such famous Bach's works as Fugue No. 5, Gavotte, Pastoral, Air on a G string, Brandenburg Concerto No. 5, and Harpsichord Concerto. They also played Debussy's Arabesque and L'lsle joyeuse, Satie's Gymnopedie No. 1, and Ravel's Bolero. With piano, bass, and drums, they play the classical works in their own jazz style in such a unique and creative way. Their Bach's are excellent. I really liked their Air on G and Harpsichord Concerto in particular. It was also very enjoyable to watch them play the impressionists' pieces. They played them very peacefully and beautifully.

The sound is very clear and rich featuring DTS/DD 5.1 & PCM. Vision is also great with 16x9 enhanced widescreen. If you are familiar with the classical works, you will like this dvd a lot. If you aren't but you like jazz and/or cross-over, you will probably like it still. Highly recommended!"
Amazing, amazing, amazing

"This is definantly worth the price.

The production quality is superb (sound and video). The playing is excellent and the arrangments are superb and sublime.

Excellent background music too."
Amazing arrangements

"I saw a cut of this video on Classic Arts Showcase and it was so good I sought out the full DVD. It's a little pricey but really delivers the goods. Every aspect is top drawer. Sight, sound and setting are perfect. Every cut is a joy to behold.

Loussier's superb touch on the piano and gift for arranging complicated classical pieces into light, though not lightweight, jazz renditions is simply sublime. All the pieces are familiar even to the untrained ear but will by no means short-change anyone in-the-know. Being a big Debussy fan, I liked Arabesque best but every cut is delightful.

It didn't play on my main DVD player but I think it's just a case of that machine growing old. It plays on all the other machines. Other than that it was well worth the twenty-three bucks."
Jaques Loussier Trio. Play Bach and more. (DVD)
Robert Field | Melbourne, Australia. | 12/29/2008

"This DVD is about as good as Loussier gets. Apart from Jaques living up to expectations, the video and audio quality are superb. Excellent choice of items. Recorded live in Bach's own church-St Thomas's, this is a truly historic recording. Highly recommended."
