Movie Reviews

The people behind the masks
Su Co | Boston, MA USA | 05/25/2005
(4 out of 5 stars)

"The movie provides a look at a specialized segment of the wrestling world. It shows them as real people with hopes and fears. It also showed them with all the failings of being human. It was a relief to see this after seeing American wrestlers portrayed as a bunch of vicious lunatics for so many years. I liked it. Thank you, Duncan MacLeod"
Best Lucha Documentary out there
Lucha Fanatico | Los Angeles | 07/09/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This film really tells the nitty gritty of the wrestling business, specifically the hard life of the Mexican wrestlers in California. It has burlesque go-go dancers, wrestlers, midgets and drag queens, so it really covers the whole freaky gamut of the world of lucha libre. It's an amazingly good documentary, considering the tiny budget it was made with. You owe it to yourself to find out more about the amzing world of masked Mexican wrestling! Watch La Lucha."
Wrestling a a way of life

"La Lucha the Struggle is a very well made documentary. It gives you the feeling of all the training and dedication that is necessary to be a good wrestler.
I find it could be a great find for even people who don't know anything about wrestling.
I think a little explaination about the film would have been nice. I had no idea it would be a real life experience."
