Included on the Complete Season set!
12/31/2003
(2 out of 5 stars)

"In a very unclear and probably intentionally confusing marketing move, this and all of the other "2-hour TV special" Little House DVDs being released separated are actually included on the Complete Season box sets being released by the same company. I purchased three of these "specials" before realizing that they were all 2-part episodes to be found on the complete season sets. Usually, a 2-part show like this is released a little while before the season it's included on is... so only buy it if you MUST have it a couple of months ahead of time. While I don't have a problem with these 2-part shows being released separately, I don't understand the need for it and I really, really wish that it would be made clear somewhere on the packaging. Considering that these single disc releases have no special features, this is the worst example of DVD "double dipping" I've seen in a long time!!"
TWO REASONS TO GET THIS DVD !!

"I can understand why some buyers consider this release a slick marketing ploy by the studio. But I recommend this DVD for two reasons.

For starters, these are beautiful episodes about love, and lessons in hardship. The main message is that the best things in life are always free. As usual, Michael Landon is outstanding as the courageous and sensitive father. Melissa Sue Anderson portrays a blind person with such conviction and reality, it is truly amazing.

Secondly, I recommend getting this DVD with the Season Four - Full Series of "Little House On The Prairie." The Season 4 DVD set ends right before the "As Long As We're Together" episodes. So, fans would have to either buy the entire Season 5 set (which is also a great idea) or pay a lot less just to get this DVD.

Here is a list of the episodes on the "As Long As We're Together" DVD:

As Long As We're Together (1) (original air date: September 11, 1978)
Poor economic conditions cause the Ingalls family to leave Walnut Grove and move to Winoka (to find work) where Mary will soon be living and teaching at a blind school. Caroline and Charles find jobs managing a hotel. Caroline works as the hotel cook and Charles works as the handyman/desk clerk. The Olesons and Garveys soon follow, to find work in Winoka, too. Albert is introduced for the first time in this episode; he is a homeless orphan who has to steal to survive. Laura and Charles both take a special liking to Albert.

As Long As We're Together (2) (September 18, 1978)
It is Mary's sixteenth birthday but her parents do not have enough money to purchase her a gift (Caroline found a beautiful new bonnet for her). Charles asks Mr. Standish, the hotel owner for an advance of his wages so he can get Mary the bonnet. Mr. Standish is a very selfish man who regards Charles and his family as beneath him. Suffice it say, he doesn't give Charles the much deserved advance. Charles decides to sell his beloved fiddle so he can afford Mary's gift. When Mary and Caroline find out about this they opt to get the fiddle back. Mary is presented with her gift at her birthday celebration. She opens up the box only to surprise Charles with the fiddle. Charles, Caroline, Mary, Laura, and most of their guests are all in tears because they all realize how beautiful this gesture is.

GREAT SHOW But BETTER DEAL with Complete Seasons- SAVE MONEY

"Instead of buying just one episode, why not buy the entire season. I 'am thrilled that NBS has finally released LHOTP complete seasons not just single episodes. Don't waste your money - you get free shipping if you buy the seasons. If you love the show its well worth the money to have every episode available. Seasons One to 3 and soon to be 4 are on sale. Hopefully more to come."
