Classic Doug Sahm, Get It!

"This is a great DVD recorded in 1975. On the first two tracks Doug plays the fiddle while Augie plays the guitar. The cover of Papa Ain't Salty is red hot with Sahm doing some serious guitar work. The finale of She's About a Mover is tops. I like this show better than the Sir Douglas Quintet Live From Austin DVD, but for Doug Sahm fans it's hard to beat the Texas Tornados Live From Austin DVD. So I'd put this show in the middle of the three releases. (Is there another artist that has three Austin City Limits releases on DVD?). One thing that I find odd about this particular show is the audience. Some of them seem lost. Clearly they had no idea they'd be viewed through 42 inch flat panel home theater systems in DTS 5.1 channel sound in the year 2007!"

Doug Sahm (The Texas Rock Legend) & his Band Perform an Outs

"An early version of the late, great, legendary Texas Rocker Doug Sahm & his band (filmed in 1975). (Please also see him perform in the Sir Douglas Quintet DVD, & with the Texas Tornado's DVD). This is an outstanding performance by Doug & his band in this dvd, just like all the concert dvd's he performs in. This guy was simply amazing, and very, very talented.

In this dvd, the line-up consists of Doug Sahm on vocals, guitar, fiddle;
Augie Meyer (another Texas Rock Legend) on keyboards, & guitar; Martin Steitle on drums; Jack Barber on bass; Steve McDaniels on drums; Harry Hess on steel guitar & guitar; and Bobbie Earl Smith on guitar. This is quite a band, and perform outstandingly.

The songs consists of the following:
1.Is Anybody Goin' to San Antone. (Doug's hometown is San Antonio, Texas).
2.Cotton Eyed Joe (featuring Doug on the fiddle - this is reminiscent of Bob Wills playing Cotton Eyed Joe on fiddle).

This is great Texas Rock, and I highly recommend it, and I also HIGHLY RECOMMEND The Sir Douglas Quintet DVD, & The Texas Tornado's DVD. These 3 concert dvds contain some of the best Texas Rock & Alternative Country that you'll ever here. Thanks!!!!

"I was there at the KLRU studio so many years ago for this show, when Doug and the boys were in their prime. Great show and great memories. This DVD shows the true versatility of Doug, from blues, country, and rock to a touch of Tex-Mex. The digital sound is excellent too. When I see myself back there on the riser groovin', I wonder where the years have gone.

A must for true Sir Doug fans."

"THIS DVD WAS LONG OVERDUE. THIS DVD BRINGS BACK LOTS OF MEMORIES OF MY EARLY DAYS IN MUSIC.AS WITH ALL THE AUSTIN DVD'S,THE SETS ARE TOO SHORT BUT BETTER THIS THAN NOTHING.GOOD TIME MUSIC FROM GOOD TIMES....."
