Superb Live Set from an Excellent Bassist and Songwriter
William F. Thompson | Altamonte Springs, Florida United States | 06/11/2002

"Superb live set from the former Level 42 Frontman. Mark combines some of the best songs from his Level 42 days as well as his solo career and tops things off with an amazing bass solo. His band is top notch and the picture and sound quality are excellent. I would highly recommend this for any Level 42 fans as well as anyone wanting to see and hear finely crafted jazz pop performed by a master musician. Songs: Hot Water, Pamela, Love Wars, Bitter Moon, Changing The Guard, Love Games, To Be With You Again, Mr. Pink, Running In The Family, Lessons In Love, Something About You, The Chinese Way."
Great performance, but atmosphere could be better

"Good stuff:
Well, much has been said about the skill of Mark King and believe it, its all true. This man is a machine! There is no one who can slap as fast and sing at the same time, while holding such a timing and this concert will more than prove this. All great hits of Level42s golden days including some of Mark's solo stuff are in here. A good selection.
Bad stuff:
As a studying audio engineer I just have to say that the sound could be better. The engineer who was taping this, must have had no clue that the bass should be more dominant in this music. Sometimes Marks basslines seem to go lost in the mix and that is a very bad thing. Not a great mixing job. Additionally the audience is a little lame. Only the first row seems to get into the sound. And why in the world didnt they interview Mark King, one of the greatest bassists of all time and put it in here? Instead we get a cable commercial and an interview with the founder of this DVD series... another bad thing..
Overall: This is for Level42 die-hard fans. I would recommend the Reading 2001 concert for anyone who wants to own 1 Level42 concert."
You'll never go wrong with Mark King!!

"Trust me on this one. Apparently, I'm a huge-forever-fan of Level 42 and the great Mark King. You have to check out that little bass solo part right before they play Mr. Pink, and slapping on the bass with those intricate basslines and singing at the same time is to die for. For those of you who are into jazz-funk, this bass god is someone to learn from. And looking at the audience, you might get to look at a few cute babes :) Mark King's prowess is the reason to buy this DVD."
IT GETS BETTER EACH TIME I WATCH IT !!!!!!!!!

"First of all, I am a huge Mark King fan. The song selection is great, and the musicianship is top shelf. This foursome is professional all the way. The thing I really like about this DVD is that I like some songs more now than I did before. The reason for that is now that I see Mark play the songs, it's more entertaining. "To Be With You Again" is such a great live song, with an absolutely brilliant bassline. "Bitter Moon" is songwriting at it's best. "Mr. Pink", well need I say more ? I LOVE THIS DVD !!!!!!!"
