Ernie Watts Is Great But...
Mark A. Wellman | Plaucheville, LA United States | 09/01/2009
(3 out of 5 stars)

"I give Ernie Watts six stars, the bass player and the tunes five stars, the keyboard player and drummer three stars (mostly for the sound quality, not the playing), and the picture quality two stars. I am very glad I have the great Ernie Watts on other DVD's. This DVD does not look very good at all."
Ernie Watts is a great tenor man, but.......

"This is a great concert for fans of the more modern sound
of jazz. I personally am more a fan of the straight ahead
mode. This concert is very good, and one can hear Ernie's
masterful delivery, especially on Skylark. But electric
keyboards, and electric basses are not my cup of tea.
What I would like to see, is Ernie's performance on his
work with Charlie Hayden's Quartet West material, it is
really great. Don't get me wrong, this is a masterful
set, these guys are all great, I am just an acoustic-
aholic."
