A Woman "Singular, Courageous And Strong" ~ The Forbidden Wo
Brian E. Erland | Brea, CA - USA | 11/20/2007
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Released in '06 `Mary Magdalen An Intimate Portrait' is only 43 minutes in length making it to my knowledge the shortest documentary on Mary Magdalene available. Obviously because of the brevity of time it simply cannot cover as much ground as some of the other 90 minute plus documentaries available but it is still a good watch nonetheless.

What sets this feature apart from other documentaries is its divergence into the contemporary realm to explore the polarization of society and its acceptance, or refusal to embrace a Magdalen divested of the traditional prostitute persona. It clearly defines the boundary between those holding on to Magdalene the harlot versus the ever-growing group proclaiming Magdalene to be the manifestation of the Divine Feminine and the counterbalance to masculine spirituality.

My Rating: Short but worthwhile; -4 Stars-."
