Hold tight to these beloved days, Midori days, that is.

""All I want is to have a normal girlfriend and a bright and happy school life. Three years of high school are going to end in no girlfriend but my right hand... I'd take anyone at this point." --Seiji Sawamura.

Meet Seiji Sawamura, a blond-haired delinquent high school student with a reputation of being the strongest fighter, especially with his demon right hand. Naturally, this puts fear into his fellow classmates, especially the girls, who are now too scared to go out with him. He's on a losing streak, asking twenty girls and being turned down twenty times. Only grade-schooler Shiori-chan taunts him, offering to be his girlfriend.

The oft-told epithet of loners having one's right hand as a girlfriend does bring up some perverse thoughts, but what if it was literal? To describe Seiji as astonished is like saying the Beatles are good. Anyway, his right hand turns into Midori Kasugano, who it turns out had a crush on Seiji when seeing him everyday on the railway platform, but too scared to confess her feelings for him. She is simply tickled to be his right hand, as that means she'll be with him, and the large googoo eyes she has when she realizes she's with Seiji is simply cute and priceless.

She has apparently inherited the strength of his right hand, as she sometimes drags him out of bed, at one point dragging him down the stairs while he's still sleeping. But there are times she thinks she could do more for him, tearfully worrying that she might be a burden, only to be reassured by Seiji to the contrary.

Yes, the situation is bizarre, but it lends to some outright funny situations. By Episode 1, Midori has made a sleeveless T-shirt for herself reading "I Seiji," which really embarrasses him. "The highlight is this heart right here," she chatters happily.

In going to the Kasugano mansion, Seiji sees that the full-sized Midori is in a coma. The theory of trying to touch his Midori hand to the real Midori leads to a comedic misunderstanding.

In one scene, Seiji and Midori are sitting on a bench, each with an ice cream cone. Midori is so happy with this situation, she starts eating the ice cream right above the cone. Guess what happens to her afterwards? In the same episode, Seiji takes her to Blue Submarine, an otaku store where anime nerds go. It's a perfect place to find Midori clothes, where doll fans get costumes for their dolls. Midori has fun trying on the costumes. However, this leads to his meeting Shuuichi Takamizawa, the otaku freak who has a hand puppet of the anime character Marin. Takamizawa thinks Seiji is a closet otaku man himself, thinking Midori is a hand puppet just like Marin, but is he in for a surprise!

With Midori being his hand, Seiji can no longer fight, which is the point of the anime. Even though he still talks and yells like a tough guy, his softer side develops with this cute girl as his hand. Midori tells him. "I know the truth. You're really a kind person. You're always doing things like rescuing weak people. That's what I love about you. That's why I'm really happy right now." Indeed, he deliberately takes a beating from a rival gang, finally realizing that more innocent people get hurt because of him, despite his loss of face. This leads to Takako Ayase, the uptight class rep who previously had contempt for him as a delinquent, finally seeing his good side.

Seiji's tough-talking, liquor drinking, biker of an older sister O-Rin is the only person Seiji fears, but even she freaks out upon accidentally meeting Midori. We learn from O-Rin that Seiji, who was habitually picked on and didn't want to fight back, got his fighting skills from O-Rin, who used to defend him from bullies.

The limited edition of the first volume comes with the collector's box for all three discs, plus a cute T-shirt of Midori-chan. Of the voice actors here, I recognize Yuji Ueda (Takamizawa), who voiced Love Hina's leading man Keitaro and was Himeno's father Kaoru in Pretear. Reiko Takagi (Ayase) voiced banana-loving Kaolla Su in Love Hina. But Mai Nakahara stands out in giving Midori a very cute voice. Great beginning to a funny yet warm-hearted series"

"Midori Days or Midori no Hibi, is one of the best comedy/romantic animes I've seen this year. The animation is nice, the characters are quite amusing, and the fanservice was totally unexpected and was actually pretty unneeded. A couple edits and cuts here and there, and we would have a chest-free anime. Of course, if you're the kind of guy Seiji is (Seiji's to the point of buying rude magazines(you know what I'm talking about) and on his 22nd or so disappointment(girlfriendwise), you're drooling over the prospect of seeing that kind of stuff.
The Midori that's on Seiji's hand, the older sister, and the Midori that's not on Seiji's hand all get bare chest shots. I really didn't know that you could put those kinds of things in 13+ animes. You learn something everyday I guess. Being a 13 year old girl, the chest shots weren't real highlights of the story for me.
However, the overall anime is really good, and it's pretty original. Buy this anime if you're into romantic comedy in the least. Just make sure overcautious mom or dad or [insert guardian here] isn't watching over your back."

"This is a good romance DVD with an unusual idea. It is funny and addicting if you are in to its style of humor. It is about a boy who wakes up one day to find a girl on his wrist instead of his "Demon" right hand. After a few moments of nudity the charecters eventually learn to live with each other.
The only thing that kept this DVD from getting a 5 from me was the constant bare breasts in every episode.
Note- You know that the shots are pointless when this is coming to you from a 14 year old male."
Cute and funny. One of the best animes to come out recently.

"Seiji Sawamura is a tough high school delinquent with a super-strong "demon" right hand. (Although he does NOT punch through cement walls. This isn't the kind of show where characters preform impossible fighting moves.) Then one day his right hand somehow magically transforms into a girl! Midori has had a secret crush on Seiji for the past three years, even though he didn't really know her, and now she finds herself attached, quite literally, to his wrist. Midori is actually as happy as can be now that she gets to be with Seiji all the time, but Seiji is quite freaked out by it and would like for nothing more than for things to go back to normal. (He begins to develop feelings for Midori after awhile, however, and comes to not mind the situation so much.)

The show is really funny and the premisis is interesting enough: what if the person you were in love with suddenly replaced your right hand and you had him/her living on your wrist, or vice-versa, and the two leads are really likeable. However, the show also features a nice supporting cast. We meet Osamu, Seiji's best guy friend and sometime in need of Seiji's rescueing from bullies, Takako Ayase, prim and proper high school girl who at first looks down on Seiji as a delinquent, but soon changes her mind and finds herself attracted to him after he saves her from a gang, Shuichi, a nerdy guy with an obsession with hand puppets (particularly those that look like pretty girls,) who finds out about Midori, Shiori, grade school girl who has a crush on Seiji, Rin, Seiji's tomboyish older sister who is the leader of a biker gang and who is the one who taught Seiji how to fight, and Nishida, the school P.E. teacher who takes a personal vendetta against Seiji.

Here's my one complaint with the DVD: The end credits. All the Japanese voice actors are listed, but only some of the English ones are. We aren't shown who does the voices for Shiori, Rin or Nishida. What the hell?! What's the deal here? I'd like to know who does the voices for all the characters! Hopefully in future volumes they'll correct this."
