This wintry romantic comedy is a guilty pleasure for me, but I still feel compelled to share the joy of it with others. It's a pretty typical romantic comedy (which is why I feel guilty liking it), but it's unique in that a lot of the movie is set in a food manufacturing plant. There is more going on than just romance. Of course it helps that I am a lifelong Minnesotan and am somewhat familiar with New Ulm, where much of the movie takes place--though it was filmed in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Harry Connick, Jr. is charming as he almost always is; I assume he could be the opposite of charming if a role called for that, but it would be a big stretch. Renée Zellweger is believable also. If you're looking for a mildly entertaining romantic comedy that you don't have to think about, give New In Town a try.

This is a wide-screen edition! Sweet loving love story with the icy cold Minnesota winter as a backdrop. I love anything Harry Connick, Jr. is in and same goes for Renee Zellweger! The outstanding cast makes for a memorable trip to the nation's icebox! With "bluecollar" workers jobs on the line and scrapbooking as the chosen hobby to some we see what a woman can accomplish when she puts her mind to it (and with Connick's help).
