A more laid-back take on a 70's icon
J. L. Wessel | New Jersey | 07/04/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I've been waiting to see this for 30 years - pretty much ever since I tried to play my first synthesizer; and the wait was worth every minute, and the price of admission. Sure, it's a bit campy, but if you've ever been to a Verdi opera or watched one with the (translated) lyrics on PBS, you know they're pretty campy too...but they've endured for a 150 years. It's just a matter of appreciating the music for what it is. If you yearn for and require great production values, don't, I repeat, don't buy this DVD. But if you can overlook the inflatable dinosaurs and the cheesy optical effects you'll get the chance to watch and enjoy a great musician (long hair, white cape and all) showing-off his chops."
Annoying visuals in transitional passages
J. Yoon | Tucson, AZ USA | 08/28/2005
(2 out of 5 stars)

"I have purchased this together with ELP's Pictures at an exhibition, released by the same company. It may be a little dangerous to generalize over merely two items, but the video effects added to these DVDs are very annoying. Although these 'effects' in this release are restricted to the transitional orchestral passages with narration, but I still feel uncomfortable. Narration itself is definitely not a top-class, compared to the original recording."
At last!
L. Compassi | Melb. AUS | 07/04/2006

"Great to see this at last! I can remember seeing it telecast in B&W when I was a kid and it has always stuck in my memory. Sound and (colour)picture is better than I expected, even with it's faults and considering the time it was made. I have been a Wakeman fan for years, and never once have I seen him either filmed or live, so it is great to see him contort himself while fiddling with knobs and making great music! Fantastic!"
The Journey of a different kind!
Michael M. Ulrich | Toledo, Ohio USA | 11/10/2006

"I've been a Wakeman fan for decades now along with following his career with the YES. This DVD takes you on a journey back when Rick was expanding his solo career as a very young man back in the 70's. There's a section in the DVD where Rick and some of the other members of this concert actually get together years later and recall the fun they had remembering there tour around the world. Watching video's of some of their travels. I highly recommend this DVD for all you Wakeman fans out there....."
