Really cool start that went into a big fizzle. Don't be tempted, skate away!

A flashback to the early 90s. Barely any skating focus to this flic tho, despite the name; lots of coming of age arcs, even for the adult characters. Soundtrack is nostalgic. I remembered how young people back then truly did say please + thank you a lot, even to their friends. Heart-warming characters. I thought the lead was a young Joaquin Phoenix but it's Shiloh Fernandez. A young AJ Buckley is in this too - b4 his metamorphosis into a hulky bad a**. Love his on-screen vibe here, always sweet + chill (just a lady's perspective). Atypical of many films, the mom character leaves a lot to be desired. Overall, Hallmark-esque with an edge.
