i /we read the book first , which goes into more details esp the interpersonal relationships of the main characters , the tezacs . of course , like all movies that are based on a book, there are parts missing , but this movie is done very well . not easy to watch . i am german , so this is part of my history , i am also a christian who has jewish friends and goes occasionally to a synagogue . from my background , this movie is haunting. the book wasnt an easy read , the movie is equal . its not an entertaining movie , but one to watch for rememberance sake , for what happened and to remember those who are gone , for no other reason , because they were G-ds chosen people . i would recommend it , for teenagers and up ...

A difficult and emotional time period shared from a new viewpoint and masterfully told. As a mother, I was in turmoil the entire time watching this movie. I wouldn't reccomend for viewers seeking a "light" movie due to the Nazi and halocaust storyline and coverage.

Although it copes with some disturbing subjects (French cooperation with deporting Jews in WWII & abortion) this film is overall an engrossing story of a woman's search for the truth.
