The cast is amazing-Willem DaFoe depicts Nosferatu as I can imagine he would be, John Malchovich is awesome as ever and Udo Kier is, well Udo and perfect in his role. Vampire movies can be the same story re-done time and time again. Many fit into 2 categories: The Romantic Count or Blood and Gore, but this storyline is completely original. I suggest that anyone who hasn't watched the original Nosferatu do so before watching Shadow of the Vampire. The premise is one of the most unique I've seen in ages. What if during the making of Nosferatu the actor playing the vampire was an actual vampire. Willem Dafoe's performance as the vampire & John Malkovich's performance as the director r very entertaining. Actual footage from the silent classic is used in a very effective way.
