A fun lower-budget Sherlock Holmes pastiche. "Sherlock Holmes meets Steampunk" wouldn't be a bad title for this one. Doesn't stick too closely to the original stories, but the personalities of Holmes and Watson are done reasonably well. The cover of the DVD is much more ridiculous than the actual story turns out to be, and this is more of an action-fantasy than a comedic mish-mash of elements, as I was expecting.

There is a scene that ended feeling unfinished, perhaps forgotten on the cutting room floor - I was left wondering why we didn't see a follow-up scene explaining the appearance of a corpse. Not too memorable, but some real effort was put into this, including decent acting, and it's an enjoyable lightweight bit of entertainment.

2.5 stars. Would be 3 if that scene had been followed up properly.
