READ makes the point that there is so much to be learned from reading. READ soon heads off to see Mr. Booker at his newsstand. Mr. Booker has started a campaign to get his customers to read more. He is putting up signs announcing that if someone buys something they will get more: "buy two, you'll get three". XTRA, the newspaper appears with some news for READ, a story about a worm in an apple core. Next, READ flies off to the Reading Room and joins a group of children who have gathered to hear some books read: Nevermore and More, More, More. The books feature the sound-spelling patterns "ore" and "are". After the book is read, READ heads home. Along the way he encounters signs "in the real world" which he is able to read; for example: "shoe store" and "handle with care". The program concludes with READ in bed thinking about his day and all he has learned. He falls asleep, a happy and better educated young dragon.
