DATELINE CASH-IN

(1 out of 5 stars)

"I JUST FINISHED VIEWING THIS BLACK AND WHITE "MOVIE" ON DVD AND I THOUGHT I WOULD WARN ANYONE
WHO WAS TEMPTED TO PURCHASE THIS DVD BECAUSE OF THE PICTURE ON THE COVER. THE SMALL FACES HAVE ABOUT 2 MINUTES OF FACE TIME (IF THAT) IN THIS ENGLISH FILM ABOUT A DIAMOND THIEF AND THOSE TRYING
TO CATCH HIM. THE MOVIE IS JUST OVER 70 MINUTES AND AM GLAD IT WASN'T ANY LONGER. WHEN THE SMALL FACES ARE FINALLY READY FOR THEIR CLOSE-UPS (THE ORIGINAL BAND WITH JIMMY WINSTON) THEY ARE LIP SYNCING "I'VE GOT MINE" AND EVEN THEN THEY CUT AWAY TO FOLLOW THE STORY, AND THE SHOTS THEY DO SHOW ARE RATHER CLOSE AND MAINLY OF STEVE AND RONNIE, WITH GLIMPSES OF KENNY JONES IN THE BACKGROUND. IT WAS RATHER INTERESTING TO SEE THEM IN ALL THEIR PIMPLY GLORY!
JUST FOR KICKS I PLAYED THE COMMENTARY VERSION OF THE MOVIE AND GLEANED A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE
PIRATE RADIO STATIONS THAT WERE AROUND ENGLAND AT THAT TIME (AND WHICH IS INCORPORATED BRIEFLY IN THE FILM) BUT OTHER THAN THAT, I DIDN'T FIND IT PARTICULARLY ENLIGHTENING. IT WAS THE
FIRST COMMENTARY THAT I'VE VIEWED THAT ACTUALLY ENDED BEFORE THE FILM DID (18 MINUTES INTO IT)! IF YOU'RE WONDERING WHAT IT SAYS ON THE COVER OF THE DVD, TO THE RIGHT OF THE SMALL FACES,
IT SAYS: APPEARANCES BY KIKI DEE (LOOKING VERY MUCH LIKE A YOUNG MEG RYAN) THE CHANTELLES, MARK RICHARDSON; RAY ANTON & PRO FORMA.
WHILE THE BACK OF THE DVD LISTS FOUR SONGS FOR THE SMALL FACES, THREE OF THEM ARE ONLY HEARD IN THE BACKGROUND OF THE FILM, FAINTLY."
