"I found this DVD a real eye opener to the life and times of Stan Levey. It is an amazing story how a young guy from Philly with no musical lessons goes to New York City and ends up playing drums with Dizzy and Charlie Parker. He's also played with Ben webster, Miles Davis, Billie Holiday and Stan Getz to name a few. This DVD dives deep into the birth of BeBop and the West coast Jazz scene of the 50's and 60's. Most of the story is actually told by Stan himself (he seems like a nice guy). A must have for any serious fan, a good basic primer for any beginner."

"What can I say I am biased for sure but My Old Man was something else, Period! I think DW accidentally put the wrong rating on this one as you are not hired by the likes of Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker unless you are a 5 star ACT.

"Through watching this video, I gained more insight into the lives of the bebop era jazz musicians. Those musicians were so creative, tough, and resilient! More than just chords were altered during that time. I know my musical life has been enriched because of the efforts and talent of musicians like Stan Levey. This video is a fitting tribute to Stan, and many of those great musical innovators."
