A must have for any guitar fan

"One of the classic performances from their 1994 European tour is finally available on DVD. This classic line-up, apart from TOTO leader Steve Lukather on guitar, features keyboard maestro David Garfield, bassist John Péna and of the best drummers in the world, Simon Phillips. Shot in Germany for the very popular TV programme "Ohne Filter" in July of 1994, most songs are from the album Candyman, which basically was more of a group effort (Los Lobotomys) and so you'll get some amazing playing. Unfortunately, this is not the complete performance. Original TV station SWR erased the entire material, and therefore this DVD misses 2 songs from the complete set. What you get is the edited TV version. Well, better then nothing I would say. BUY NOW !!!"
What a show!

"any fan of great guitar playing will appreciate this dvd. what am i saying....anyone who appreciates great ANYTHING playing will dig this dvd!!!!
not only is the guitar playing of Steve Lukather blazing, but you've got the karizmatic mastermind, David Garfield, on keys; the ever-grooving John Pena on bass; and the inimitable Simon on drums (do i even have to say "Phillips"?) the thing i like about this, more than anything, is the pure respect these guys have for the music, each other, and the audience..... well, what else would you expect from a group like this?! they effortlessly burn thru 7 originals and 2 very cool covers with the finesse, chops, and confidence that the rest of us could only hope to possess.it is a shame that the last 2 songs weren't included (as Ingo mentioned) however, as it stands, "Steve Lukather: In Concert" is an outstanding addition to my modest collection of live music dvds. the picture is brilliant, and the mix is strong and punchy. the only (and i mean "ONLY") thing that disappoints me is that we don't get to see Steve's left hand during the melody of "dismemberment".....how the HECK did he do that????? oh ,well....i guess there has to be SOMETHING left to our imaginations.....like the previous reviewer says, "BUY NOW" - thanks, Ingo!"
Great performance... but one problem....

"I'm a musician (drummer) and a big fan of Toto. Luke and Simon are awsome together. This performance is mind blowing to watch and hear whether you're a musician or someone that likes anything fusion/rock/jazz. Personally, I bought it to be able to watch Simon Phillips who is (in my opinion) one of the most innovative and powerful drummers in the world and hasn't performed on many DVD's. In fact, outside of his instructional video, to my knowledge this is the only one.The "Ohne Filter" productions that I've bought are all suprisingly good quality for TV productions. The audio is really good but is not as good as concerts that were digitally recorded originally for 5.1. That shouldn't be a surprise. But, they are recorded very well and the audio really rocks. Now for the one problem. The product description listed on Amazon.com for this DVD says that it is Region 1 encoded. This isn't true. It is actually "region free". Now when I received my first 'Ohne Filter" production on DVD of Edgar Winter with Rick Derringer, I was very happy and had no problems with it. But when I got Steve Lukather it would not play on my DVD/Surround system at home. It will play fine on my computer at work, and on some of my friends' systems, but not on my home system. What a dissapointment! I still haven't figured out what the problem is so I haven't yet got to hear it cranked up on my Sony surround system. This doesn't make sense!!!! Edgar Winter (same company) plays great. This one won't play at all. My DVD player won't load it and says "disc error". THE DISC IS FINE!!!! If someone can help me please post something here.If you're player will play this DVD you'll be very happy with the purchase. It's awsome."
