Movie Reviews

Good but could have been great
Gary Jones | 02/28/2002
(4 out of 5 stars)

"First off the description of the dvd is that there are ten videos ranging from two from the new release, going back to his ealier work. The making of featurette they are talking about is a little bonus outtake on the Live Out Loud video (this is not an actual interview kind of making of). It says that there are bonus outtakes and bloopers on the dvd but the only one that has anything is the Live Out Loud video. The reason that i give it four stars is that i am a fan of Steven Curtis Chapman. The dvd however could have been so much more. I am sad that there were no interviews, no actual bloopers and outtakes to the videos, none of those fun extras that you would like to see in a dvd. That said, The videos chosen are all good ones and each on has three choices of the actual video, w/Stevens commentary, and w/director commentary. There is one tab just for a brief roll of the credits which makes one wonder why not just tack that on to each video as it is played or something? This is for the fans but some will find as i have that it could have been so much better. This is no reflection on Steven Curtis Chapman let me emphasize. I would like to see Sparrow go back and put some of his concerts on dvd and load them with great stuff that couldn't be put on a video. Here is hoping for better things to come."
Inspirational and entertainins

"I've been a fan of Stephen Curtis Chapman ever since The Great Adventure song and video first came out. However, I had not seen any of his other videos until I had the chance to get the DVD and see what the others were like. I rate his music at 5 stars because of his consistency in creating really interesting and well crafted songs. Having been a professional musician at one time in another genre, I can't begin to tell you how hard that is to do album after album. The videos (on DVD) are well crafted and present the story line of the songs in a way that gets to the heart of the matter (oops, sorry Don) which can be watched by kids and adults alike. I can recommend this set of music videos for both your viewing enjoyment and listening pleasure -- and for the encouragement they provide!"
A great way to celebrate God!

"My kids love to pop this DVD in & sing along with Steve. Steven Curtis Chapman is arguably the best Christian songwriter in America, and his videos are inspirational to kids and adults. Adding DVDs like this, I believe, are important in helping your family keep their focus on God."
