The Sword stained with Royal Blood

"This movie is ok...considering Yuen Biao is the star. At times when the film becomes interesting it becomes choppy because somebody did a real bad editing job. The film is not that bad except you can definitely see the actors strapped to the wires in some of the action scenes. This movie left me really dissapointed in the producer and director for not getting a better editor."

"Oh man this is the movie I have been looking for.

It starts off with an explanation of why Marshall Yuan was murdered. They say it was becasue the evil eunuch framed him. Now the Yuan Clan is completely defeated. Right before the master of the clan dies a guy named Golden Snake Man shows up. He proceeds to kill everybody with his special sword. He tells the master that he will need to die since he has seen the Golden Sanke Man, played by the great Danny Lee. He says oh no, I have to find the young master and then gouges his eyes out. The young master he is looking for is Yuen Biao in one of his top 3 roles of his career. This movie fels similiar to Deadful Melody starrign Brigitte Lin due to the similar yet different music and Yuen Biao playing the same type of character, but the Sword Stained with Royal Blood is FAR superior.

Now we have a TON of plots going on and somehow they all end up makign sense. I really wish that a ton of people had reviewed this movie so that I could talk about the story a whole bunch, but I really don't want to give anythign away.

So I will just tell you a few quick explanations of why this is definitely one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. The heroes are HEROES. Evrybody in the movie has REAL emotions. I actually came close to shedding a tear. But the movie is actually a blend of beign a comedy and a serious drama. It is hard to explain but when you see this you will knwo what I am talkign about and hwo they worked this to perfection.

So I would definitely say this flick is way better than Deadful Melody and even better than one of my personal favs- Swordsman 2. Yeah, it is seriously that good. Don't go into this expecting an Iron Monkey type of plot where you really don't have to put any thought into it. Expect to have to follow all of the charcters closely. This results in some loud laughs and maybe even some tears. I know that I certainly didn't cry. What? I swear, I didn't.

I got the Tung Ah version of this and the picture quality is VERY good. Imbedded subtitles that for the first time I really can't complain about. I could actually read all of them! There is this Chinese guy who has started selling movies out of his antique shop in my town. He had this as a Yuen Biao 2-pack, I couldn't believe I hadn't seen either of these movies. The other one I got was Shogun and Little Kitchen, please don't watch that flick."
