Movie Reviews

I personally loved this ;-)
Little Miss Cutey | Melbourne, Australia | 06/01/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I often go back to watching this movie every now and then because I really do like it. It's not Oscar material for sure, but it's good and enjoyable and almost anything that Martin Lawrence is in, is great. He's funny and yet in this, you can see he's got a more serious side too. I do agree with some other reviewers that it is a semi cross between Fatal Attraction and Boomerang. There are moments of comedy and moments of insanity with the female lead. Darnell meets Brandi outside his club, Chocolate City, and she looks like she has it all. Limo driver, fine crib in Malibu, good paying job, but that's only the surface.
He can't say he wasn't warned. His mother (Della Reese) said near the start that there is a fine line between love and hate, and also Brandi (Lynn Whitfield) told Darnell that it wouldn't be a good thing if she were hurt and she also told him in bed for their first time, that she'd killed her husband because he'd been abusive. He should have heard warning bells then, but didn't.
I love watching this; it's funny in parts and also fun watching Brandi go off the deep end. I love the music throughout the movie and if you are a fan of Black cinema, then check it out. It's an old favourite of mine and really enjoy it."
This is the Black Version of Fatal Attraction........

"This movie is Fatal Attraction without a doubt, it just has a different cast. I was expecting this movie to be funny, but I didnt laugh at all. Martin Lawrence plays a good roll as a player in this movie, but isnt really funny. The supporting actors are good, but I didnt enjoy this movie as much as I thought I would. Definitely rent this one before buying it. It is ok at best."
Fun movie

"I thought this movie was a mix of Boomerang and Fatal Attraction. It had a nice cast (Martin Lawerence, Lynn Whitfield, Bobby Brown (small role, but he did his thing), Regina King). Ladies man gets caught up when he plays the wrong woman, and becomes a victim of her revenge. The movie is not super great, but it was a fun movie. There are parts that will make you laugh."
A cross between "Fatal Attraction" and "Boomerang"
The Fancy One | Westchester County, NY | 10/28/2000
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Mixing the formula from Eddie Murphy's "Boomerang" (a player gets played) and Michael Douglas' "Fatal Attraction" (guy is stalked by heartsick ex-lover) plays well here, but I thought the subject matter was a bit too heavy to be considered a comedy, even a dark one, especially during the climax of the movie. I liked this film, though, because I love Martin Lawrence. Della Reese is great as Martin's mom."
