Movie Reviews

THE QUEEN OF ROCK BREAKS A WORLD RECORD!
Aaron Begert | USA | 05/15/2000

"This Concert was the last show of the record breaking Break Every Rule World Tour. The tour played to 4 million people world wide and delivered 230 shows. This concert filmed in Rio Digenario on January 18th, is awesome. The setlist includes Addicted To Love, Typical Male, I CAnt Stand The Rain, Better Be Good, Private DAncer, We Dont Need Another Hero, Whats Love Got To Do With It, Help, Lets Stay Together, Proud Mary, What You Get Is What You See, Break Every Rule, and finishes with Paradise is Here. Tina sings these songs with the help of her band, dancers, and tons of EXPLOSIONS and FIREWORKS!"

"All those other so called "Divas" out there like Jennifer "J-Lo" Lopez, Mariah "Heartbreaker" Carey, Whitney Houston, Janet, "Ms. Jackson if you're nasty" Jackson, and the three ladies from Destiny's Child had better stand to the side when The Acid Queen enters the room. All of the above mentioned artists and this includes Britney and Christina need to purchase this DVD, and let Tina show them how its done. Tina is the very definition of Diva, and only Patti Labelle, or Aretha Franklin could nearly keep up with her. Tina is the sexiest woman alive. She has the legs of an Olympic gymnast, and oozes sensuality just standing there. But when she breathlessly belts out "Private Dancer" with that sexy sax, she is absolutley everything, erotic, sensual, sexual, gorgeous, and boy does she hold that Rio crowd of 180,000 in the palm of her hand. No one on that stage could possibly keep up with her energy level on that HOT night in Rio. Tina sings her behind off, and leaves everything on that stage. Watch for the festival dancers onstage during "Typical Male" No one can do it like Tina, and Ike Turner must cringe evertime he realizes that he is nothing but a second rate guitarist, while Tina is an international superstar. Viva Tina!!!"

"This is a great concert, however, I do have to agree with other reviewers on the lighting and the sound quality concerns. Considering, though, that this was concert was broadcast live on HBO in early 1988, and that the performance has not been remastered, _almost_ what you see on this dvd is the same as what was broadcast on HBO.So...what's the difference between the original broadcast and this dvd?? Well, for starters, the last 3 songs weren't in the original HBO broadcast. Secondly, the original airing, which ran 5 minutes OVER the 60 minutes allotted to it on HBO, "Nutbush City Limits" was included as the last song. The reason it's probably not on the dvd (or earlier vhs and laser releases) is that as soon as the song ends, without missing a breath, Tina says to the HBO viewers, "Goodnight HBO!!" And lastly, in the original airing, whoever was working sound missed the beginning of "Addicted to Love"; hence it's "edit" here on the DVD.It is actually a great performance. What gives it some charm is that it has not been retouched. The added 3 songs over the original broadcast make nice extras :) Now, if only a true updated "best" collection would be released, as well as a dvd of the "what's love" tour from 1993 :)"

"awesome concert with Tina at her best. Featuring her best songs, from Proud Mary, Private Dancer, To her Break Every Rule albums. Only major negative is that they show the ending credits, half way through the song Paradise Is Here"
