The trial is really about the grieving process. It is a good story. Mac (Matthew Modine) has suffered a staggering loss and is about to commit suicide when a life changing phone calls interrupts him. His skills as a lawyer are needed and he takes on the job for his friend, the judge. There are many twists and turns throughout the trial, but it makes Mac realize the value of a life. It takes suicide as an option for him and so he must work through his grief. There are valuable lessons to learn on the path of sorrow and grieving.
