Despite being a movie of obvious budgetary limitations, I still thought that "The Irrefutable Truth About Demons" was still a pretty good movie. In fact, knowing what sort of monetary crimps they were under, I was actually... more » fairly impressed with the finished product. The movie basic hinges around the premise that there are indeed demons in the world, and that these demons do indeed inflict us no matter what we think. The poor, unfortunate main character of the film, Harry Ballad, finds this out the hard way when he discovers that his books on "uncovering frauds" has marked him as its next victim. After discovering a package in the mail showing him the face of his adversary, he finds himself surrounded by droves of dying friends and a web of intrigue that only a female ex-cult member can help him live through. Combine this with the fact that he's being chased by an eclectic band of cultists and, better yet, a demon, and you get the portrait of a man living a very bleak life. \nMy only complaint is that the movie hinges more on the continued threat of the demon that is stalking poor Mr. Ballad and not on shots of the demon itself. In fact, I counted only three areas with the demon actually in them, and one of those was a bit on the "too quick to see well" side. This was a shame, too, because one of the shots of the demon making its way down a building looked nice. Still, the mood is creepy enough to keep a person tied to it and the ending is funny, in a somewhat unexpected way. That said, it is worth checking out in my mind, but you do have to like constraints to enjoy this.« less
Not sure if I would like the accents but this New Zealand horror flick had a great plotline that shocked you many times.

"Urban is my favorite actor, and I only gave this a 4 because it wasn't quite as good as The Price of Milk. Still, considering budget problems and time constraints (it was filmed in 6 weeks, all at night, in Wellington), it was quite an excellent film. You have to suspend disbelief, but it is geared more toward messing with your mind than shocking you with scary looking images and creatures. Is Harry being stalked, or is he going crazy? I have to say, I was looking over my shoulder for days after I watched, and Karl is an absolute delight when he works. You should definately watch this movie"
Brilliant Little gem

"I thought this little horror film from New Zealand was brillant. WHile it followed some of the conventions of B movie Horror, it was original where it counts. I have never seen anything like the scene where the hero literally has his heart stolen. A little stunner, well worth the rent."

"Besides being low buget this movie was awesome. It played with my mind and the ending wasnt predictable at all which I really love about movies. When I first decided too watch the movie I was expecting it to turn out lame without a plot what so ever but it actually all came together and I deff. recommend it."

"...I wasn't much of a fan of Karl Urban's, my mother was, so when I got this movie for her, I saw it with her. Now I can say I'm a pretty big fan of Karl Urban's...
I love strange and bizar movies, and this is one of'em!
5 stars from me, I'd give it more if I could. And although it's great on vhs, I find the sound is a little more thrilling on dvd."
