Meacham | Warren, OH | 08/30/2009 (5 out of 5 stars) "Having seen many productions of La Traviata, I appreciated this one for the dedicated performances of its principals, and for the illumination given by the unusual staging of two scenes. The director used the aria De' miei bollenti spiriti not as a monologue for the tenor, but a chance to show the sense of love and joy between Alfredo and Violetta. I have always found the gypsy girls and bullfighters at Flora's party to be waste of time, but in this production they were used to further drive Alfredo to distraction, which contributed to, rather than distracting from, the story."
