Zakk and the BLS Rock!!!!

"This is the first ever DVD for Black Label Society and its well worth the long wait. It features the full concert recorded at Harpo's in Detroit and extras including the Rob Zombie directed video for "Stillborn", a 20 minute clip from Zakks guitar instruction video,an acoustic BLS song, home video footage, an exclusive interview, and two songs recorded live in Tokyo. The group consists of Zakk Wylde doing lead guitar and vocals, Nick Catanese on guitar, Craig Nunemacher on drums, and Robert Trujillo on bass. The concert consists of Demise of Sanity, Graveyard Disciples, Bleed for Me, 13 Years of Greif, Stronger Than Death, Genocide Junkies, Spoke in the Wheel, Born to Lose/Guitar solo, World of Trouble, All for You, Super Terrorizer, and Berserkers. Demise of Sanity and Graveyard Disciples are recorded live from Tokyo with Mike Inez on bass. The concert is well filmed and brutal just like you'd expect from BLS. The interview is good and the backstage footage is hilarious. Its nice to see the softer side of Zakk when he's singing some of his songs with his daughter, who knows every word to. Features Zakk performing the national anthem at a hockey game and some other crazy stuff. All in all a great video and a must for every BLS/Zakk fan."

"This DvD, like the other reviewers have said before me, Kicks Ass. Zakk Wylde knows how to write riffs and solos. This DvD comes packed with extras like; the full concert in Detroit, MI, the video for the song Stillborn, an Interview with Zakk, 2 songs Live from Tokyo, some Home Video footage of the band, and even a guitar lesson by Zakk.

The concert...I don't know where to start! It's absolutely worth the money on it's own, without the extras. The Track Listing is:

1. Demise of Sanity
2. Graveyard Disciples
3. Bleed for Me
4. 13 years of (motherf*ckin') Grief (Which is how Zakk introduces the song)
5. Stronger than Death
6. Genocide Junkies
7. Spoke in the Wheel
8. Born to Lose/Guitar Solo
9. World of Trouble
10. All for You
11. Super Terrorizer
12. The Berzerkers

The most headbanging songs are probably 1-2-3-4-5-10-11, but really, they're all really good, and played really well too. They are just my personal favourite BLS songs that are on here. The guitar solo at the end of the song Born to Lose, is amazing, and a must-see on it's own! And on Bass is Robert Trujillo doing his "headbanging crab walk" he always does. That's really cool to watch too, because you know he really loves what he's doing, and he's having a good time playing with BLS.

The Interview is interesting too. Whoever is doing the interviewing (You don't see who it is, it's like Zakk is sitting there by himself, reminiscing almost) asks some interesting questions, and Zakk answers them with mostly long answers.

The Guitar Lessons i haven't watched all the way through, as it's pretty damn long, but altogether interesting for those who want to know how to play BLS riffs. There is also Home Footage, that i haven't watched all the way through yet either. Basically, there is so much here, that it'll take you a while to get through it all. Which is good, and what you want in a Music DvD, i think. I rate it 5/5 as it's one the best value for money Music DvD's out there. A Must For Fans."

"When this was released I saw some very negative press about it and as I watched I wondered what the reasoning actually was. It also made me wonder what one actually expected from a DVD that features Zakk Wylde and his band the Black Label Society. With the exception of the bonus features, this DVD is strictly concert performance stuff. Of course there are some great close-ups and angles and especially ones while Zakk is soloing. For me this delivered to the expectations I had, this is basic Heavy Metal with great guitar work. Just what we all know will come from Zakk after all his years performing with Ozzy. There was also a lot of beer consumption by Zakk throughout the show. I lost count after 5. This concert contains all the songs you expect to find on such a DVD by Zakk. Another highlight is watching Bassist Robert Trujillio (now of Metallica) crunch along side of Zakk. He really is one of the better bassists in Metal music and it shows.

Bonus Features: This was some good and some bad to me. Maybe this caters for the absolute fan more than the casual listener/viewer. Among them: There is brief concert piece from Tokyo which along with the Star-Spangled Banner is cool. There is a video for "Stillborn" and a cute little sing along with Zakk and his Daughter Rae Rae (it's just too cute for words and really shows a different side of Zakk). There are photos, a discography and a guitar lesson. The stuff I felt could have been dropped was all the drunken bantering which I guess was at the tail end of a gig. A few minutes is fine but this lasted a little too long for me and become not funny.

More for the diehards over all but still a solid concert to watch for fans who might not easily get to see the band perform at either Ozzfest or solo."
Incredibly heavy live BLS with some nice extras.

"As a casual fan of Zakk Wylde's guitar work (with Ozzy, Pride & Glory, and BLS), I picked this DVD up on a whim and I'm glad I did. The live show is a brutal, bone-crunching experience. Zakk & crew (including Robert Trujillo on base) unleash some of the heaviest metal imaginable. The only respite from the mayhem is "Spoke In The Wheel," a Skynyrd-esque ballad which Zakk performs alone with his Les Paul. Guitar solos, drop tuned riffs, beer-swilling, and shouts of "Motherfu-ker!!" abound. Fans of Pantera, Down, and old-school Metallica will not be disappointed. The 5.1 mix is terrific and the band sounds as huge and defined as you'd expect. The DVD extras are excellent and add some real value to the package. They include:*A guitar lesson filmed up close in the studio for one of his instructional videos. Zakk breaks down solos from 3 songs note-for-note at slow speed with up close fretboard views. Guitarists will love this feature.* "Slightly Amped," a two-song acoustic performance from a pre-show appearance. It appears to have been filmed by a fan, so the sound isn't that great. But hearing Zakk rip it up on an acoustic is damn cool. And his singing is terrific, too. The man is ridiculously talented. There's also a home video of Zakk singing with his young daughter, additional live performances from Japan, and the Rob Zombie-directed vid for "Stillborn," the hit from BLS's latest album. It's a tremendous package for fans of heavy music, great guitar playing, or Zakk's work in particular."
