Biography: From 1931's Ghost Train onward, Scottish screenwriter Angus MacPhail devoted most of his time to thrillers with a light touch. MacPhail's war-time efforts included a brace of Will Hay comedies and the somewhat more sober The Foreman Went to France (1942) and Went the Day Well? (1943). His later projects ranged from the British omnibus feature Dead of Night (1945) to the American Hitchcock production The Wrong Man (1957).
