Biography: Influential radio impresario Zenas Sears significantly boosted the careers of such performers as Ray Charles and James Brown. He broke into radio in the '40s after purchasing station WAOK-AM in Atlanta and changing its format to focus on contemporary African-American music. Sears appeared in two films, Jamboree (1957) and The Legend of Blood Mountain (1965). |
