Biography: Distinguished cinematographer Nicolas Vogel worked at MGM studios for most of his career and was particularly noted for his excellent black-and-white photography, a medium he used exclusively until the mid-'50s. He entered the film industry in the mid-'20s and but for a couple of assignments as a director of photography in 1927, did not become a full-fledged cinematographer until the late '30s. In 1947, Vogel became in demand after he photographed Lady in the Lake. |
