Biography: Jacqueline Brookes was one of but a handful of American actors accepted for training in the 1950s by Britain's Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. Her New York stage premiere occured in a 1955 off-Broadway production of Tiger at the Gates; not long afterward, she won a Theatre World award for her work in The Cretan Women. It would have been nice had Jacqueline Brookes always had film roles commensurate to the prestige of her stage work, but such was not the case with 1972's Werewolf of Washington. |
