Jon Jacobs wrote, directed, and stars in this fantasy drama set amid Beltane, a Druid celebration. Seeking a mate, wizard descendant Jason (Jacobs) returns to Earth, arriving in New Orleans where members of the local witch coven concoct spells to attract Jason. Eight years earlier, Jason had a child with witch Lucinda (Christina Fulton), now a coven dropout and a prostitute who seeks legal custody of their child. With a clever blend of coven comedy and supernatural social drama, this film won the Golden Warrior prize at the "Cannes You Dig It" alternative sidebar event held during the 1998 Cannes Film Festival. ~ Bhob Stewart, All Movie Guide

Writer/director Jon Jacobs presents the black comedy Lucinda's Spell. The film is presented in 2.35:1 non-anamorphic widescreen. This is a decent looking transfer that sports only a few minor imperfections, including a small amount of edge enhancement and grain. Otherwise, the colors and black levels are all even and well saturated, making this a pleasing transfer for fans. The soundtrack is presented in Dolby Digital 4.0 Surround in English. This is a very enveloping mix which utilizes surround sounds to maximum effect. With little in the way of hiss or distortion marring the mix, this track should do wonders on a surround sound system. No alternate subtitles or soundtracks are available on this mix. There are a few fine extra features available on this disc, starting with a commentary track by director Jon Jacobs. This is an interesting track that features a wealth of production info, as well as some humorous anecdotes about the film. Three separate featurettes (each lasting only a few minutes) explore the film's origins, the film's world premiere, and some of the promotional effort put into the film.
