Nothing terrifies more than mollusks, and nowhere is this more apparent than in the cult classic horror flick
Slugs. Roar-inducing dialogue and silly death scenes make up this thriller about slimy slugs gone bad! Anchor Bay has done a commendable job with =Slugs' 1:85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer. Although the picture tends to suffer from lack of detail and depth, the quality surpasses what one might assume a movie of this budget would look like. Colors are usually bright, with black levels generally solid. A small amount of edge enhancement is noticeable during the middle of the film, but it is kept to the bare minimum. Audio is presented in Dolby Digital Mono and, while nothing particularly special, certainly does the job that's needed. Dialogue, effects, and typical 1980s synthesizer music are all easily heard and free of distortion and hiss. No subtitles are included on this disc.
Sluggish might be the best way to describe this DVD edition, for Anchor Bay has decided to include only an anamorphic theatrical trailer that makes this movie seem
much scarier than it actually is. Fans of
Slugs will be happy to see their beloved movie in an anamorphic widescreen edition, but will be sorely disappointed at the lack of extra material on this disc. ~ Patrick Naugle, All Movie Guide
