In this madcap comedy, Geena Davis plays Valerie, a manicurist living in the valley with her cold fiancé, Dr. Ted Gallagher (Charles Rocket). At the Curl Up and Dye beauty salon where she works, Valerie enlists the help of her boss, Candy Pink (Julie Brown), for some style advice to try and win back Ted's affections. After undergoing a brand-new hairstyle, Valerie learns that Ted is having an affair and she kicks him out of the house. Soon, while lounging around in her bikini, a spaceship from the planet Jhazzalan crash-lands in her swimming pool. Curious, Valerie befriends the ship's inhabitants -- three horny aliens covered in fur named Mac (Jeff Goldblum), Whiploc (Jim Carrey), and Zeebo (Damon Wayans). Introducing her new friends to Candy, the aliens get a shave and a total makeover transformation into hot, available dates. What do you get when you take a whole cast of talented actors, and turn them loose in a comedy about friendly aliens visiting Earth? You get Earth Girls Are Easy, starring a big cast of comic geniuses, including Julie Brown, Jeff Goldblum, Jim Carrey, Geena Davis, and Damon Wayans. The soundtrack for this movie is excellent, filled with classic songs like "Cause I'm a Blonde," and "I Like 'Em Big and Dumb," both written by Julie Brown and Nile Rodgers. Remastered in Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround Sound, the amusing soundtrack really shines. It's also available in French. The DVD is letterboxed in an aspect ratio of 1.85:1. Subtitles are available in English and Spanish. This is a high-quality production, with many extra features. Picture and sound quality are both excellent, making it a joy to watch.
Added bonus karaoke footage in the "Special Features" section of this DVD is alone worth the price. Bonus material includes behind-the-scenes footage, outtakes, and five musical numbers. There's also a theatrical trailer, cast and crew bios, and production notes.
