DVD Synopsis
An man gets an unexpected lesson in love and life from a much younger woman in this romantic drama. Will Keane (Richard Gere) is a wealthy 50-year-old restaurant tycoon who has a knack for wooing beautiful women, but is unable to commit to a lasting relationship. On day Will meets a beautiful woman in her early-20s named Charlotte Fielding (Winona Ryder); he turns on the charm in an effort to impress her, and soon the two are having an affair. But what Will thought would be a brief, casual fling proves to have far deeper repercussions when he learns that Charlotte is suffering from a serious illness and does not have long to live. Autumn in New York was directed by actress-turned-filmmaker Joan Chen and co-stars Anthony LaPaglia, Elaine Stritch, and Jillian Hennessy. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
Joan Chen's romantic drama arrives on DVD in a presentation that looks and sounds fine, but offers little in the way of frills. Autumn in New York has been given two transfers which are both included on this disc: a letterboxed transfer which preserves the film's original 1.85:1 aspect ratio (it's also enhanced for widescreen televisions) as well as a pan-and-scan full-frame version. The film's original English language soundtrack has been included in a Dolby Digital 5.1 mix, as well as an alternate Spanish language track in Dolby Digital Surround and a French version in Dolby Digital 5.1. The film is closed captioned in English, and has been encoded with optional subtitles in Spanish and French. There are no commentary tracks, trailers, or additional features, adding up to a quality presentation of the film that will satisfy fans who don't demand any bells and whistles. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

I was pretty disappointed in this movie. It just seemed like the characters were one-dimensional, and maybe someone noticed this and tried to make them silly or quirky. But it did not work and ended up feeling forced.

Great love story. I liked it, but my husband says it is a horrible movie! If you like love stories, then this is a movie to watch!
