Michael Jordan to the Max, shot and initially released in the high-definition IMAX film format, takes a documentary look at Jordan's life and career, focusing primarily on the 1999 NBA playoffs, in which Jordan and the Chicago Bulls achieved their sixth professional championship under his leadership, shortly before announcing his final retirement from the court. Along the way, we're offered glimpses of Jordan's early days growing up in North Carolina, his rise to fame, and his successful off-court careers in business and advertising. This disc does a good a job as possible of presenting the huge IMAX image of Michael Jordan's basketball prowess. The DVD offers a widescreen anamorphic transfer that produces an image with an aspect ratio of 1.85:1. Closed-captioned English soundtracks are rendered in both Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Digital Surround, while a French soundtrack has been recorded in Dolby Digital 5.1 as well. English subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include a commentary track recorded by the director and the producers, a biography of Jordan, a list of his stats, a featurette, and a montage of great Jordan dunks.
